soon...

back! exams are done for the year and i'm definitely ready to pick up the camera again.

favour....: i'm in the process of investigating digital SLRs (it's time to upgrade from the current point-and-shoot compact camera currently responsible for most shots on this site). if you have a spare moment, would you care to share the following info:

  • do you have an slr?
  • what type?
  • are you happy with it?
  • what features do you love/hate?

    thanks!!

That's tough, I guess if I were buying one tomorrow I'd get the nikon d80 or d40 depending on your price range... of course I am kinda partial to nikon's.

is a great site for reviews.

    Good luck in your quest.

thanks! is there a story behind this nikon fanaticism, or is it better if i don't ask?? a couple of my friends have canons (they're not pirates though...) and seem quite happy with them. thoughts??

I am very happy with my Canon 350D, and when I upgrade I would love to geta 5D or similar.

I'm on the Canon side of the fence for DSLR because I have always had them for my P&S cameras. They have always performed well and I've never had any serious problems.

You won't know yourself when you get one with a couple of nice lenses. While on the topic of lenses, I would try and avoid the Canon kit lenses if you can afford to go higher in the range. The kit lenses are quite soft and you would be better off buying a body only and getting some better glass right from the get-go. That being said, I did buy the kit lense and it still does the job for me while I save for an upgrade.

Just that nikon's are all I've ever had and they've treated me quite well. You know, common everyday fanboy stuff. ;)
